This hand-embroidered, hand-dyed cushion cover is inspired by the painted green flag flown over the General Post Office by the Irish rebels during the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin.
Mary Shannon, a shirt maker in the Nationalist co-operative at Liberty Hall, had made the flag not long before the Rising.
The cover is a small tribute to the men who were so dignified in the face of their eventual executions, and the words of Seán MacDiarmada embroidered on the back are a reminder of their bravery and sacrifice.
