Dense floral vines, scrolling leaves, and a bold central medallion — worked entirely by hand in rich mustard-gold thread on a natural white cotton ground. No two pieces are ever identical.
A living craft tradition
Suzani embroidery has its roots in Central Asia, where the craft was traditionally passed down through generations of women as part of a bridal trousseau. Over centuries, the tradition travelled — and in Kashmir, artisans developed their own distinctive interpretation, bringing local floral sensibilities and their own embroidery heritage to the form. This piece was made in Kashmir, continuing that evolved tradition by hand.
A hidden detail
Turn it over and you'll find lines from W.B. Yeats' He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven (1899), hand-embroidered in deep blue thread on the reverse:
"I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams."
A bedcover, a poem about dreams, and the quiet intimacy of something beautiful hidden on the other side.
Make it personal
The verse on the reverse can be customised with your own message or a different line of poetry — a beautiful and unusual gift for someone special. Personalisation is available for an additional €45. Please get in touch before ordering to discuss your chosen text and allow extra lead time for personalised pieces.
Use it your way
Layer it over a bed as a bedspread, fold it at the foot of the bed as a textured throw, or hang it as a wall piece.
